Nearly 65% of UAE’s Covid-19 cases fully recover as daily number of new cases continues to drop
DUBAI – Nearly 65 percent of those who have tested positive for coronavirus in the UAE have made a full recovery as the daily number of new Covid-19 cases continued to drop. Figures showed that 27,462 people - or nearly 65 per cent of those who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the UAE - have already made a full recovery, according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention. A further 701 people also recovered from the virus on Sunday. So far 42,294 people in the UAE have been infected by coronavirus, but only 15,000 cases remain active, including one patient who is in a critical condition. The ministry said that the infected individuals are in a stable condition and are receiving necessary care. Meanwhile, the reported daily number of new coronavirus cases in the UAE has continued to drop, with 304 cases on Sunday compared to 491 on Saturday. Last week, daily figures were above 500 cases, but still comparatively lower to reported daily highs of 700-800 cases. The drop in new cases daily comes as the UAE continued its aggressive mass testing campaign. According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention, more than 43,000 tests were carried out in 24 hours. More than 2.6 million residents have been tested. In a statement, the ministry affirmed its aim to expand the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out necessary treatment. Globally, coronavirus cases have now reached 7.8 million, with 4 million recoveries and more than 432,000 deaths. The United States has recorded the largest number of coronavirus deaths at more than 117,500, while Brazil has suffered the second-highest number with close to 43,000 deaths.
