Dh50,000 fined after stealing money from credit card, court orders to return cash

A man has been fined Dh50,000 after illegally transferring Dh33,000 from his friend's credit card to his account, a court in Al Ain ordered. The Al Ain Civil Court of First Instance found the man guilty of theft and violating online laws, and ordered him to pay an additional Dh7,000 compensation for moral and material damages. In his testimony, the Arab victim said his friend illegally obtained his credit card details without his knowledge and wired the money to his account. A police investigation corroborated his claim. The defendant was not present at the hearing. In its verdict, the Al Ain court ordered the man to return the cash of Dh33,000 he stole from his friend and pay Dh3,000 for legal expenses, on top of the Dh50,000 fine and Dh7,000 compensation.
