Abu Dhabi New Year 2026 fireworks to run for 62 minutes

Abu Dhabi is preparing to welcome 2026 with one of the largest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the UAE and the region, as Al Wathba hosts a 62-minute fireworks display, massive drone shows and cultural performances as part of the Sheikh Zayed Festival. The Higher Organising Committee of the festival confirmed that final preparations are under way for a festive programme that blends cutting-edge technology with authentic Emirati heritage, further strengthening the festival’s standing as a global platform for cultural exchange.

Record-breaking fireworks display

The New Year’s Eve fireworks will aim to set five new Guinness World Records, delivered through five timed segments starting at 8pm and building up to midnight. The main display will run continuously for 62 minutes, illuminating the skies over Al Wathba using advanced launch and visual synchronisation technologies.

6,500 drones in one flight

Visitors will also witness a 20-minute drone show featuring 6,500 drones in a single flight, forming nine giant artistic scenes to be revealed for the first time worldwide. The drone formations will integrate with the digital countdown and fireworks, creating a unified visual experience.

Culture, heritage and live performances

On the ground, festival arenas will host traditional Emirati performances including Al Ayala, Al Razfa and Al Nadba, with hundreds of performers taking part. International troupes and country pavilions will also present musical and carnival-style performances. Families can enjoy dedicated programmes at the Children’s Theatre and the festival’s amusement park city, which opened in December 2025. Organisers said the New Year celebrations reflect the Sheikh Zayed Festival’s vision of combining innovation with heritage, welcoming visitors from across the UAE and beyond.
