‘I also need justice’, says husband of Filipina murdered in Dubai

  DUBAI - With his wife's headless body found dumped in Dubai and police pointing at a family member as the murder suspect, Salvio De Lima said that he just wants one thing after fate's cruel blow: that justice be served. The case has not been an easy one for the De Limas, with relatives still in disbelief over what transpired in the gruesome crime. "I told the family of the suspect to fight their case in court. If he is proven guilty, then we must accept it,” Salvio said. There have been many awkward moments with affected relatives, he said, “But I also need justice.” Salvio, who arrived in Dubai on Monday (October 31), said he wants maximum punishment for his wife's killer. "Whoever is responsible for the death of my wife, I request for him to be given the maximum punishment,” the 52-year-old Manila police lieutenant told reporters at the Philippine consulate in Dubai. The headless body of Maria Normita De Lima, 46, was found dumped in a deserted area in Dubai. After a three-month intensive investigation, police traced the murder suspect: her nephew in Dubai. The suspect, G.S., admitted to killing Normita, who worked as a housemaid in Abu Dhabi, following a dispute over a Dh10,000 debt. After stabbing Normita, he allegedly beheaded her and chopped off both her hands and then burned the body parts before burying them in a sandy area in Ajman. He then dumped her headless body in Al Warqa'a, police said. Normita's husband, Salvio, has arrived in Dubai along with his older brother to claim her remains and bring them back to the Philippines for burial. He said that giving his wife a "decent burial" might help him and his family begin to get the closure they need. He said that a burial plot is ready at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City. Salvio said he trusts the police investigation into the murder. Having worked for 27 years in the police force where he spent a lot of time investigating criminal cases, Salvio said he “vouches for the integrity of the police investigation” in his wife’s case. He said that the family is still coming to terms with Normita's death, which came as a big blow, particularly to their two children, aged 15 and 13. “Our family had a lot of hopes. I never expected this would be the fate that would befall on her.
