Appointments needed to visit Dubai health facilities

  DUBAI – Private health facilities in Dubai have been instructed that patients in non-emergency cases must be required to book an appointment for their visit. The Dubai Health Authority said its recent circular is aimed at avoiding crowds in private healthcare facilities in Dubai. According to the DHA, there should be a minimum interval of 20 minutes between appointments. A minimum distance of two metres must also be maintained by patients in waiting areas. The DHA’s recent circular outlined a number of updates on precautionary measures aimed at further enhancing safeguards against the spread of Covid-19. The DHA said that facilities found breaking the rules will face legal action.

Visit to dentist, ENT in Dubai

Under the DHA’s new rules, patients visiting the dentist or ENT specialist must be assessed prior to any procedure to ensure they are free from Covid-19 symptoms. In dealing with confirmed Cov-19 cases, the health facility should ensure that the patient is transferred to a facility that provides the service and has a negative pressure treatment rooms.

PCR testing

Private healthcare facilities must perform Covid-19 PCR tests in approved laboratories for any suspected cases requiring medical procedures or intervention.

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

The DHA also stressed the need to ensure all staff wear PPEs in order to ensure the highest level of protection and safety for both patients and medical staff.

Telemedicine

The DHA also called on health facilities to continue using telemedicine services to provide medical services while ensuring that it does not conflict with DHA’s updated protocols. ICA/Expat Media
