British cyclist in high-speed Dubai crash recovering in hospital
DUBAI – A British cyclist who suffered serious injuries during a training accident in Dubai is now recovering in hospital. Josh Quigley, 28, crashed at 60kph while training on his bicycle at high speed. He suffered fractures to his spine, shoulder, pelvis and collarbone and was left unable to walk. Quigley is awaiting surgery for his injuries. "Not sure what the recovery process is looking like yet," he said on social media. He thanked fellow riders Ben and Tobias for “getting me an ambulance and making sure I got to hospital OK”. He also thanked the “great cycling community here who have been great to me since I've been here”. “They're all doing a lot to make sure I am looked after and have what I need in here,” he added. Last year, Quigley was hit by a car in the US as he attempted to cycle around the world. The accident left him with serious head injuries, broken ribs, fractured pelvis and a punctured lung. He recovered and went on to break the world record for the fastest crossing of North America in a bicycle at 31 hours and 17 minutes.
