Construction begins on Abu Dhabi’s new Church of South India

DUBAI – Construction work has begun on the Church of South India in Abu Dhabi. The church is slated to open in 2021. The Anglican church, located in the Al Shahama area, is expected to open to the public in June next year. It will be open to all nationalities and faith and will be the largest church of its kind in the UAE. The church is being built near the Hindu temple in the Al Rahba area off the Sheikh Zayed highway from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. The 4.37 acres of land allocated for the church has been given by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. When finished, the church will be able to accommodate up to 750 people. The church will also have multi-purpose halls, residential units for priests, and recreation areas. ICA/Expat Media
