Woman burned alive by partner over drug dispute

A 28-year-old woman died on Monday (February 20), nine days after she was allegedly burned alive by her live-in partner over a drug dispute in Aman Vihar, northwest Delhi. According to the report dated February 11, the police received information regarding the admission of a woman with burn injuries at SGM Hospital. When the police responded to the incident, the woman was found unfit to record a statement due to her critical condition. The authorities identified the woman as a resident of Balbir Vihar in northwest Delhi and a laborer in a footwear factory. According to the investigation, the victim had left her husband and lived with the accused, identified as Mohit, for the past six years. In the family members' statement, a murder case has been filed at the police station in Aman Vihar. It was stated in the complaint that the accused allegedly poured "tarpin oil" over the woman and set her on fire following an argument on the night of February 10 after the woman caught him taking drugs at his friend's place. Mohit has been arrested and as of Tuesday (February 21), further investigation is ongoing. RZSP/Expat Media
