Disney Cruise Line is coming to Southeast Asia for the first time
Disney Cruise Line and Singapore Tourism Board announced on Wednesday (March 29) that they have agreed to bring a brand-new Disney cruise ship exclusively to Singapore for at least five years beginning in 2025. Josh D’Amaro, Disney Park Experience and Products Chairman, said that as part of the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, the Disney Cruise line will undergo an expansion with new ships and new destinations around the world. “We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our eighth ship and to sail from here year-round starting in 2025,” D’Amaro said. With this, D’Amaro explained that Singapore and its neighboring Southeast Asian countries would enjoy the Disney Cruise ship without going on a long-haul flight. Meanwhile, Kieth Tan, the Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), expressed the expectation of their interest in the Southeast Asian market. “This is the first time in Southeast Asia—the only chance for Southeast Asian travelers—to be able to cruise on a Disney cruise ship without having traveled a lot longer distance,” Tan said. He added that the Disney ship is not only an attraction itself, but will “boost the tourism sector in Singapore for many years to come.” The Disney Cruise ship will offer kids clubs, broadway-style shows, interactive character moments, themed restaurants, and fine dining and rejuvenating spas for the adults, D’Amaro said. He added that the Disney Cruise Line vacation is the perfect vacation to interact in the most intimate and immersive way with stories and characters.
