Dubai Bling salary leak scandal sparks Netflix investigation
Netflix has reportedly launched an investigation after the salaries of Dubai Bling actors were published by a UAE-based media. Arabian Business revealed last week that the cast of Dubai Bling received just $2,500 (Dh9,175) each for every episode they starred in season one. Netflix has reportedly launched an investigation to “find the mole” who leaked the information. The company is currently filming the second season of the reality TV show. Dubai Bling cast members have said the leak about their salary has now made it awkward for them to demand higher amounts for their public appearances. “I cannot ask for Dh100,000 anymore to open a new shop because everyone knows I charged less than Dh10,000 for the show. This is a massive problem,” a cast member was quoted as saying by Arabian Business in a follow up report. Another cast member also said the leaking of salaries has caused problems between the cast, with “everyone wondering if it was one of the cast who did it.” The cast member, who wanted to remain anonymous, said a couple of people “are privately accusing me.” Netlix has reportedly offered the cast a 5 percent increase in their salary for appearing in season two of Dubai Bling.
