Dubai outdoor markets shut down

  DUBAI – Three outdoor markets along Dubai’s Al Muraqqabat Street were shut down by Dubai Municipality, Expatmedia.net has learned. The markets, operated by Imtiaz Media & Events Agency, remained closed and cordoned off on Tuesday (November 24), a day after these were closed by inspectors. Watch the video The markets that were shut down include The Night Market Muraqqabat close to Dream Palace Hotel and two other The Market near New Era Supermarket. The outdoor markets featured dozens of pop-up shops and restaurants. According to Dubai Municipality notices at the entrances, the installations will be demolished soon due to “bad and unsafe conditions” and for endangering public safety. When asked for comment, a representative from Imtiaz Media & Events Agency told Expatmedia.net, “We are working on getting permits to reopen the markets.” The outdoor markets were constructed on parking lots in the busy area.
