Dubai opens Al Shindagha Museum, largest heritage museum

His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and UAE Prime Minister, inaugurated the country’s largest heritage museum in Dubai. The Al Shindagha Museum features 22 pavilions, including 80 historic houses. It showcases the development of Dubai and the UAE, highlighting the traditional Emirati lifestyle and the region's rich cultural heritage. Covering around 310,000 square meters, the newly renovated museum has been transformed into an open-air museum, narrating the inspiring stories of Dubai. It also showcases the city's exceptional achievements and diverse human and cultural dimensions. “The Al Shindagha Museum plays a vital role in preserving tangible and intangible cultural heritage, which is the foundation of any civilization. The museum embodies the ambitious spirit of Dubai and documents its success stories,” said Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Member of Dubai Council. The Al Shindagha Museum also features different sections, and one of them is the Al Maktoum Residence. The Al Maktoum Residence section showcases the ruling family's legacy and accomplishments, including the historical events in Dubai throughout the years. It highlights the significant decisions and historical projects of the rulers of Dubai in the 19th century. Moreover, the museum provides a space for investment and development projects related to heritage and culture, as well as services and amenities for visitors.
