Filipina gives birth during hospital fire in Dubai

  DUBAI – A Filipina who gave birth during a fire at a hospital in Dubai thanked rescuers as a team from Dubai Civil Defence visited her home after the incident. “I’m very thankful to Dubai Civil Defence because they came to my house and wanted to see me and my baby,” the woman said during the recent visit from Dubai Civil Defence. Firefighters and Major Saeed Mohammad Al Mazroui, director of Al Karama fire station, visited the Filipina to check on her condition and her baby girl’s health. The Filipina was admitted to Aster Private Hospital in Mankhool area on September 28 when a minor fire broke out at the hospital. The hospital was quickly evacuated during the incident. The Filipina was delivering her baby in the operation room when the fire broke out. She was evacuated along with her baby. No one was reported killed or injured in the blaze, which was brought under control in 10 minutes, according to Dubai Civil Defence. Investigation revealed that an electricity glitch in the electric room at the hospital sparked the fire.
