Following their participation in the AgraME convention at Dubai World Trade Centre, Filipino officials and delegates representing the country’s agriculture sector visited the Philippine Supermarket in Karama, Dubai on Friday (October 11). The visit aimed to strengthen agricultural trade ties between the Philippines and the UAE. The 25-member delegation was warmly welcomed by Abdul Razagh Mohammadi, also known as Abu Nader, the Emirati owner of the Philippine Supermarket. “I am happy to support the delegates in their efforts to push Philippine products in the UAE market,” said Abu Nader, who has long been a champion of Filipino goods in the region. Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness, Marketing, and Consumer Affairs, Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, expressed the delegation’s optimism about promoting Philippine agricultural products globally. “We were here last year, and we’ve returned this year to further explore ways to boost sustainable agricultural ecosystems and expand local production,” Velicaria-Guevarra said during an interview with Expat Media. The delegation’s visit also provided a platform for exchanging ideas on how to improve the agricultural supply chain between the Philippines and the UAE. Macario Gonzaga, Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office XI, highlighted the importance of such partnerships. “The convention provided valuable networking opportunities with key industry players that will help us draw greater interest in Philippine agriculture,” said Gonzaga. The visit to the supermarket underscores the growing demand for Filipino products in the UAE and is part of broader efforts to showcase the Philippines as a key player in sustainable farming practices.
