Filipino artist who pleaded with God wins Dh166,666 in UAE draw

DUBAI – A balloon artist who also works as a document controller for a company in the UAE revealed that he pleaded with God to win Dh166,666 in the Emirates Loto draw on May 23. William Marquez Aniana, 38, said he was at home in Dubai with his friends and cousins to watch the draw live on YouTube that night when he was suddenly compelled to ask for blessing. “I went to the balcony, and I was looking at the moon, and I asked God to let me win six numbers. Even five numbers only,” Aniana recalled. He became very excited as the winning numbers were announced. He ended up matching five out of six winning numbers. “When I heard the fifth number I stood up. I jumped! I was almost crying and I thanked God for giving me this opportunity,” Aniana said. The Filipino, who has lived in the UAE in the last 13 years, said he now finally has enough money to build his own business in the Philippines when the time comes. He said it has been his longtime dream to move back to his home country to be with his two children. “It’s very nice to be with your family,” he said. He plans to share some of his winnings with his friends, and his brother. “The rest I will keep in the bank so I can use this for my future, my children’s future and my family’s future as well,” he said. Aniana said he will play Emirates Loto again. “Maybe it will be my time to hit the grand prize, which is Dh50 million,” he said.
