Filipino HR boss in Dubai featured in MMK again!

DUBAI – After being thrust into the limelight when her life’s story was featured in Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), Dubai-based HR Director Vagelyn Tumbaga-Pacio is making a comeback in the popular drama anthology this January. The self-confessed farm girl turned multi-awarded HR director will be featured yet again on the Philippines' longest-running show, but this time on how she unexpectedly found love at 40. Check out the trailer: Actress Angel Aquino will play Vagelyn in the MMK feature on January 2, while actor Adrian Louis Alandy will play her love interest. The movie will be available on iWant TFC, Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live. As Expatmedia.net first reported in June, Vagelyn had tied the knot with her childhood “arch nemesis” after they reconnected and had a long-distance relationship for nearly a year. “I never thought I would find love at 40, but it happened for me, and with my childhood enemy at that!” a grinning Vagelyn, who is now married to Philippine city councilor Janwell Janpac Pacio, told Expatmedia.net. They had an intimate wedding ceremony in Georgia in February. “I think you really don’t need to find love. It will really come, at the right time. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how far you are from each other. God will make a way,” Vagelyn said. Read more about their love story here. Vagelyn made headlines in 2015 when her first TV feature came out in MMK and inspired millions of Overseas Filipino Workers who were amazed by how she overcame diversity and racism to rise to the top. The Filipina—who hails from San Fernando in the Philippines’ La Union province—came to Dubai after her marriage broke down. Like many jobseekers, she also endured hardships on Kish Island where she was stranded after her visa run, working in exchange for scraps of food and seeing her friend commit suicide. Luck would later turn for Vagelyn, who was given an opportunity to work in the hotel industry where she famously put a racist colleague in his place. With determination and hard work that she always paired with humility, she has risen up the corporate ladder to become the most-awarded Filipino HR director in the UAE. PIA/Expat Media
