Free Tesda training for Filipinos in UAE, world

  DUBAI – A free online training course is underway for Filipinos in the UAE and worldwide to learn and get certified as scaffolding inspectors. The online course is a project of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Integrated Risk Management Association of the Philippines (IRMAP), Philippines Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and United Filipino Global. Participants need to complete a 40-hour online course until October 2 and pass an assessment test in order to get a TESDA certificate. The ongoing course is led by speaker and civil engineer Crisauro Fallar, a former Overseas Filipino Worker and IRMAP member in Dubai who has returned to the Philippines. “This is a very good program for Filipinos who want to move to a different career. The program will allow them to work as scaffolding inspectors in the Philippines,” Jennifer Guardian, IRMAP president, told Expatmedia.net. Guardian credited Gemma Sotto, head of United Filipino Global, and Fallar for helping bridge IRMAP and TESDA in launching the programme. More than 100 people have enrolled in the free skills training programme, Guardian said. “We are launching a course for health and safety practitioners after this,” he added. Scaffolding inspectors are in-demand in the construction industry. In the UAE, the average salary for scaffolding supervisors is Dh8,958, according to online job site Bayt.com.
