More than 530 killed in Haiti gang violence this year, UN says

The United Nations reiterated on Tuesday (March 21) that more than 530 people were killed in the increasing gang violence in Haiti. The clashes between gangs have become more aggressive and violent. UN Human Rights Officer spokeswoman Mata Hurtado told reporters that this year, up to March 15, a total of 531 people were killed, 300 injured, and 277 kidnapped in gang-related incidents in the capital Port-au-Prince. At least 208 people had been killed and 164 injured in the first two weeks of March alone by snipers, Hurtado added. RZSP/Expat Media
