Indian expats’ issues on spotlight as minister arrives in UAE

  DUBAI – Issues faced by Indian expatriates in the UAE will be on the spotlight as part of the Indian minister’s official visit to the UAE. Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday night as part of this three-day visit. The minister will meet Indian community leaders to understand the issues faced by expatriates, and will focus on the welfare of workers. A statement by the Ministry of External Affairs said that Muraleedharan will meet UAE dignitaries and the Indian community in the UAE. “There will be special focus in the visit on issues related to the Indian community, especially the welfare of Indian workers,” according to the Ministry of External Affairs. The Indian community is one of the largest expatriate populations in the UAE. There are an estimated 3.4 million Indians living in the UAE. ICA/Expat Media
