Last survivor of Dubai-Kerala Air India Express plane crash leaves hospital

  DUBAI – An Ajman expatriate who spent nearly three months recovering from injuries sustained in the Dubai-Kerala Air India Express plane crash has left the hospital, according to a report. Noufal Kizekkethil underwent 12 operations, including skin transplants to cover gaping wounds, as doctors at Aster MIMS hospital in Kannur raced to keep him alive, according to The National. Kizekkethil was among 170 passengers who survived when the Air India Express flight overshot the runway and plunged into a valley in Kozhikode in Kerala on August 7. The crash killed 21 people. The expat, who worked in a gold shop in the UAE, was returning home to Kerala to start his own business close to this wife and four-year-old son when tragedy struck. The impact of the crash damaged his vertebrae and skull. Doctors needed to conduct critical operations on him to avoid further complications to his health. Kizekkethil said he has a vague recollection of the crash, and can only remember being in the dark and in so much pain. He struggles with nightmares.
