Luminous flying 'space debris' appear in the skies of California

Mysterious streaks of light were seen in the sky in the Sacramento area, California, on the evening of Friday (March 17). Various citizens in the area posted videos containing the surprising sight of strange lights flying across the sky. According to astronomer Jonathan McDowell, the lights people saw were most likely space junk that had been orbiting Earth for the past three years. "The flaming wreckage produced a spectacular light show in the sky," McDowell explained. He estimated the debris was 40 miles high and traveled thousands of miles per hour. The astronomer added that the US Space Force confirmed the Inter-Orbit Communication System's re-entry path over California, and the time matched what people saw in the sky. RZSP/Expat Media
