Dubai announces Mall of the Metaverse Dubai's Majid Al Futtaim, one of the most advanced metaverse platforms, announced that it would open the Mall of the Metaverse. The announcement was made during the World Government Summit on Tuesday (February 14) that the Mall of the Metaverse would be the first virtual shopping mall and be the home of the retail giant in the Decentraland universe. Decentraland is a blockchain-based virtual world that allows individuals and organizations to create, experience, and monetize their content.  

First virtual mall

The Mall of the Metaverse welcomes consumers with increased digital experiences across retail, entertainment, and leisure offerings. This includes Carrefour, VOX Cinemas, THAT Concept Store, Ghawali, and Samsung Store. More brands are currently being planned to join the virtual reality metaverse space. Khalifa bin Braik, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, said that the Mall of the Metaverse would be a leading retail and entertainment destination. She highlighted that it would surely be a huge attraction for customers who crave digital experiences from their most loved brands. Fatima Zada, Director of Omnichannel and Digital, Majid Al Futtaim Shopping Malls, also highlighted that due to the increasing demand for digital experiences in the last few years, they worked to deliver customers’ wants and desires. " our swift consumer observations, followed by an action plan and a series of testing stages, it has led to a fully-fledged project that is a step ahead of online shopping—Mall of the Metaverse," Zada said. UAE has made several advancements in the metaverse that strategically aims to support 40,000 virtual jobs and add Dh14.7 billion to its economy in five years. RZSP/Expat Media
