Woman dies after ex-boyfriend burned her alive, ex-partner arrested

The 19-year-old Venezuelan Sergio Tarache Parra has been arrested by the authorities after fleeing the “gruesome” crime he did on March 18, when he doused his ex-girlfriend with gasoline and burned her alive on a central square in Lima. According to the Lima government, on Wednesday (April 12), the authorities managed to track down the suspect in Colombia and arrested him. Katherine Gomez, 18 years old, suffered severe burns and died six days after the incident. In 2022, Peru registered a total of 139 femicide cases. In 2018, a similar case was reported after a man poured gasoline on his ex-girlfriend, Eva Agreda, and set her fire. She died days later. RZSP/Expat Media
