A new award is being launched in the UAE to recognize and put the spotlight on lesser-known Filipino expatriates with extraordinary contributions to society. The Dakilang Manggagawang Pilipino sa UAE (Greatest Filipino Workers in UAE) aims to reward and recognize Filipinos in the UAE who have “sacrificed a lot to support their family and have contributed greatly to society”, cargo and freight forwarder Pinas Cargo, the event organizer, told Expatmedia.net at the media launch at Carlton Palace Hotel on Thursday (August 5). “We want to give due credit and a bigger stage for ordinary Filipino expats to be rewarded for their silent but heroic efforts that often go unpublicised,” said Rumelyn Aribon, Marketing Head of Pinas Cargo. Five extraordinary Filipino expats will be awarded with prizes valued at approximately Dh5,000 including vouchers, appliances, grocery packs, hotel stays, pampering sessions and more, with the grand prize winner getting prizes worth a total of Dh8,000, including a round-trip ticket, tour and hotel stay in Armenia. Nominations are open until August 20 via https://forms.gle/JAF67ZMQC3ezv8pBA. Nominees must be UAE residents currently employed in any industry.
