Pastor now buried two years after death, family hopes he’d resurrect

Siva Moodley, a pastor who passed away in August 2021, has been laid to rest after nearly two years of being kept and prayed for by his family with hopes of returning to life. A report shows that his family opted not to bury him because they believed he would resurrect and see Moodley alive again. Mortuary managers said they allowed the body to stay in the morgue for too long. However, they eventually realized it was time for his burial or cremation due to health and environmental risks. They claimed that despite numerous attempts to obtain the family’s permission, they received no response from the relatives. This prompted them to bring the matter to court, where they received approval for mandatory burial or cremation. Finally, the South African pastor was buried in Westpark Cemetery, Johannesburg. His wife and two children decided to forgo the burial service for unclear reasons. On the other hand, the pastor's siblings and extended relatives were present to say goodbye to him. RZSP/Expat Media
