Sudan military rivalry leaves more than 60 dead

At least 61 people were killed and hundreds were injured in the two-day of deadly battles between paramilitaries and the regular army. The explosions and exchanges of fires took place on the deserted streets of Khartoum after the paramilitaries said they were in control of presidential places like the Khartoum airport and other vital facilities, which the army refuted. On Saturday (April 15), the Sudanese air force issued a statement urging residents to stay inside as it continued to conduct airstrikes against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) facilities. Fighting breaks out following months of rising hostilities between Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, head of the RSF, and Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan, commander of the Sudanese military. It also came after years of political upheaval following the coup in 2021. Fighters firing from truck-mounted machine guns clashed in densely populated neighborhoods in the Sudanese city of Khartoum. The committee reported that it had recorded 600 injured people, some of them were security personnel, and that many of them could not be transported to hospitals because it was difficult to move during the fighting.
