1 tonne of garbage collected in Al Qudra   DUBAI - Hoteliers became garbage pickers for a day to give Dubai's Al Qudra desert some tender loving care. They were able to collect one tonne of garbage in less than 24 hours. Ninety staff members of Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa joined UAE groups in the recent Clean Up UAE campaign organised by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG). The initiative highlights the importance of the local community towards a sustainable environment. The team collected a total of one tonne of waste from the surroundings of Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa, spanning over 60,000 square meters of Dubai desert and located in Al Qudra area. “Green initiatives and sustainable practices are one of our priorities in this luxury desert resort," said Reuben Mifsud, Cluster General Manager of The Meydan Hotel and Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa, which was recently awarded World Travel Award 2017 as the Middle East’s Leading Desert Resort for the sixth year in a row.
