106 people stripped of driving licence in Ajman for dangerous driving violations in the emirate
AJMAN – Police have banned 106 people from driving in Ajman after they racked up 24 demerit points for dangerous driving, a top police official said.
Of the 106, there were 39 people who committed dangerous violations, said Ali Humaid Al Masseibi, Director of the Traffic and Patrolling Department of Ajman Police.
Their driving licences were revoked in the past three months. The motorists have been banned from driving for an indefinite period until a decision is made by court officials.
Last year, 292 licences were confiscated in Ajman. Forty per cent of those who had their licence revoked are Asian drivers, while Emiratis and Arabs make up 27 percent and 26 percent of the total number of violators. Europeans, Africans and other nationalities made up one percent of the total. ICA/Expat Media
