Eleven delivery riders from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were cleared of stealing 11 motorcycles from a Dubai-based delivery company. The Dubai Court of Misdemeanours dismissed the case against the group on Thursday (October 13). “Evidence presented by prosecutors failed to prove a breach of trust charge or the existence of criminal intent in this case,” the court said in its verdict. The case dates back to 2021 when their employer reported them to the police, claiming they stole the motorbikes worth a total of Dh99,000. The company’s legal representative said the men were given a motorcycle each for outsource work, but “they disappeared before the end of the two-year contract and didn’t return the motorcycles”. During police interrogation, three of the riders said they left their work after they were not paid salaries for up to six months. They denied stealing the motorcycles, and said they returned the vehicles to mediators who arranged for their job with the delivery company.
