11 top Dubai health insurance law violations revealed

  DUBAI – A total of 25 health centres, clinics and insurance companies were fined up to Dh80,000 for flouting the mandatory health insurance law in Dubai, according to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Tuesday (April 11). Six health clinics suspected of engaging in fraudulent activities also face trial and possible criminal punishment. What were the common violations found by inspectors? Dr Haidar Al Yousef, the Director of the Health Funding Department at DHA, revealed the top 11 violations in Dubai since the Dubai Health Insurance became mandatory beginning in April: 11. Dealing with unlicensed companies practicing health insurance in Dubai. 10. Companies providing health insurance without license. 9. Insurer marketing or advertising wrong information without verification from DHA. 8. Non-compliance of insurance companies with the customer satisfaction level required by the DHA, especially the front desk and employees handling call center. 7. Delay of insurance companies in issuing the health insurance cards or activation of the Emirates ID. 6. Healthcare provider submitting invoices and getting payment before giving services to members, such for dental and physiotherapy sessions. 5. Ordering unnecessary services and laboratories. 4.
