ABU DHABI – Police have arrested 115 drivers offering illegal transport services, locally known as "carlift", in Abu Dhabi.
The arrests were made in the last two months, according to the Abu Dhabi Police on Monday (September 19).
The suspects were caught using private cars to transport passengers from the Abu Dhabi airport without a license.
Police said they also confiscatd the vehicles of the illegal drivers, some of whom are absconders or are staying in the UAE without a proper residence permit.
If convicted, the suspects face a fine of Dh5,000 to Dh10,000 or a 30-day jail term.
