127 child protection specialists can now handle children maltreatment cases
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), granted the status of judicial officers to 127 child protection specialists in Abu Dhabi. The child protection specialists were sworn in as judicial officers before Counsellor Ali Mohammed Alblooshi, Attorney General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, at the headquarters of the Judicial Department. Counsellor Alblooshi explained that the said status would allow these child protection specialists to protect the children and their rights as well as handle related cases and enforce the applicable law for the offenses and violations within the legal powers granted to them. He also added that these efforts existed with the authorities that are related to the field and are aimed at the creation of an environment where children can fully enjoy their development and rights under the law and improve family stability. A qualification programme under the Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy (ADJA) equips the specialists with the knowledge of judicial and administrative control under the applicable laws, the legal expertise and proactive measures for prevention of child violence, exploitation, and neglect, and the appropriate skills for responding to needs of the victims of abuse and maltreatment.
