13 rescued from burning ship in Sharjah

  DUBAI - A crew of 13 Indians were rescued from a ship that caught fire at Sharjah's Khalid Port on Wednesday (May 8), according to the Sharjah Civil Defence. There were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths. The ship was carrying 6,000 gallons of diesel when it caught fire at around 6:44am, said Major Hani Al Naqbi, spokesperson of Sharjah Civil Defence. It took fire brigades at least one hour to extinguish the flames, which also destroyed the ship's cargo of 120 vehicles and 300 tyres.
