13 Sudanese stranded at Sharjah airport given aid

Thirteen Sudanese stranded at the Sharjah International Airport have been given aid, with authorities arranging hotel stays for them. Authorities said that families with children were among those stranded at the airport. The passengers were unable to take their connecting flights to Sudan due to the ongoing conflict there. They arrived in the UAE on transit from various countries. Sudan’s Khartoum Airport was shut down and flights were cancelled due to the ongoing conflict between the army and paramilitary forces. Battles have overwhelmed Khartoum and its twin city Omdurman and several other regions, especially Darfur. The violent clashes have left millions of civilians caught in the crossfire and “fast running out of basic necessities,” according to the International Crisis Group. ICA/Expat Media
