2 jailed in Dubai for stealing 40 phones
Two African men have been jailed in Dubai for stealing 40 mobile phones from a store in Dubai. The Dubai Criminal Court also sentenced the duo to a fine of Dh28,000. They will be deported after serving their jail terms. There were no further details about the men’s identity or nationality. According to court records, the duo broke into the store in Dubai’s Freej Al Murar district after closing time in May. The business owner reported the theft to police after inspecting the store in the morning and finding the shop in disarray. Investigators used surveillance camera footage to identify and arrest the suspects. They were caught in their residence. Police confiscated 30 mobile phones in their possession. During interrogation, the duo admitted that they planned the robbery, and had stolen 40 mobile phones, 10 of which they had manage to sell.
