2 Emiratis arrested for drag racing

  ABU DHABI - Two Emirati men have been arrested for drag racing and reckless driving in the Western Region. The duo were caught performing dangerous stunts on the roads, said Colonel Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, chief of the Western Region Police. Al Khaili said that the Emiratis' vehicles were impounded and that their case has been referred to traffic authorities. Anyone caught driving dangerously faces a Dh2,000 fine and 12 black points on their licence. Their car will also be impounded for 30 days. Nearly 500 motorists have had driving licences suspended between January and September this year for traffic offences and for accumulating more than 24 black points. In Abu Dhabi, 100,000 tickets have been issued in the first three months of this year for speeding and dangerous driving, police said.
