200 lose jobs in Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank

DUBAI - At least 200 people lost their jobs over the past three months after the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) cut their services. The cuts, according to three people with knowledge of the reductions, were made mostly in the retail business. They revealed that 100 people were dismissed last month. Most of them were junior staff. A bank spokesman, however, said that ADIB doesn't comment on speculation and rumours. The bank employs about 2,500 people across the country. This report joins other lenders in the UAE that have cut jobs to adjust to slower economic growth after oil prices halved over the past two years. In August, 50 people were dismissed by Union National Bank, a lender controlled by both the governments of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Emirates NBD, the nation's biggest bank, reduced its workforce by more than 250 people at its small and medium enterprise and Islamic lending businesses in April.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
