25 Dubai clinic staff infected with Covid-19 during mass testing

DUBAI – Twenty-five healthcare workers at a clinic in Dubai contracted Covid-19 while doing mass testing of construction workers for coronavirus in the UAE. Among those infected were a doctor and four nurses. Fifteen of those infected have recently recovered and were honored at a ceremony in Right Health Clinic in Jebel Ali. "We are proud to honour our Covid-19 warriors, who put their life at risk during the campaign that covered labour communities in Dubai's different locations,” said Jayan K., CEO of Right Health. The frontliners were working round-the-clock for the UAE's largest coronavirus screening campaign covering the labour communities. One of those who contracted Covid-19 is Dr. Mariamma Philip, who said she still contracted the virus despite wearing full personal protective equipment while doing consultations with patients. "Dressed in full personal protective equipment (PPE), I was doing my normal consultations with suspected Covid patients in the OPD when I started experiencing severe body pain, weakness, headache and mild breathing difficulties,” Dr. Philip recounted. She said her symptoms became severe so she took a test the next day, which confirmed she had coronavirus. Her two children and husband also got infected and the family was home quarantined for more than 15 days until they tested negative for coronavirus twice. ICA/Expat Media
