26 Abu Dhabi private schools banned from enrolling new students this year   ABU DHABI – Twenty-six private schools in the UAE capital have been banned from accepting new students this year. The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) made the announcement this week, saying that the schools were informed about the ban on new enrolments in March. The schools were found to have “weak” or “very weak” education standards in the latest inspection, according to Adec. The ban will remain in place until the schools improve their ranking and attain “acceptable” education standards in the next inspection, according to Adec. There are currently 191 private schools in Abu Dhabi, with a total of 245,000 students. According to inspection reports on the Adec website, 37 schools were found with “weak” education standards, while 6 schools were “very weak”. The affected schools have British, American, UAE, Indian, Iranian and Pakistani curriculums.
