3 bodies of repatriated UAE expats returned to Abu Dhabi

  DUBAI – The bodies of three Indians repatriated from Abu Dhabi were returned to the UAE capital after they lacked clearance at a New Delhi airport, officials at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said. Officials said the bodies of Jagsir Singh, Sanjeev Kumar and Kamlesh Bhatt were flown out on Thursday evening and had arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in India early on Friday before being sent back to the UAE for lack of approvals. Clearance for bodies was reportedly suspended in India, where additional approvals from the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs have also been put in place to repatriate bodies. Singh, Kumar and Bhatt died in the UAE due to non-Covid-19 reasons. Their death certificate mentions the cause of death as accident and natural causes. An Indian Embassy official in Abu Dhabi said two bodies were bound for Punjab and one for Uttarakhand. The official said that the embassy is working with the Ministry of Home Affairs in India and other authorities to ensure that the bodies will be flown back again from the UAE to India and delivered to their families.
