Three football players from the Egyptian Zamalek Club were sentenced to one month in jail and fined Dh200,000 each following an incident on Sunday (October 20) in Abu Dhabi. The players were convicted of assaulting public security officers and provoking riots during the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final against Pyramids Club. According to Arabic media reports, Nabil Emad Dongha, Mustafa Shalaby, and football director Abdel Wahed El Sayed were called to a police station for questioning on Monday (October 21). In its ruling, the court stated that the decision was based on the testimonies of the victims, supported by security camera footage reviewed during the public prosecution’s investigation. It was also confirmed that the defendants disregarded organisational regulations and assaulted public employees tasked with securing the event. FLE/Expat Media
