DUBAI – The Al Ain Court of First Instance has found three men guilty of scamming an Arab woman in a fake investment deal and ordered them to repay her a total of Dh640,000. According to court records, the men lured the Arab woman with a fake investment deal, claiming that she would gain huge profits. She alerted authorities after not getting any profit or updates from the men months after she invested her money. She was also unable to contact them on the mobile phones, which were switched off. Court papers issued to media did not mention the nature of the business investment, or details of the men’s identities. In court, the men denied defrauding the woman, however she and prosecutors were able to present evidence against them. At the Al Ain Court of First Instance, the men were convicted of fraud and ordered to repay the woman Dh330,000 as well as Dh10,000 in compensation for moral and material damages. They were also ordered to pay the woman’s legal expenses amounting to Dh300,000. ICA/Expat Media
