Three UAE citizens from Al Ain drowned in torrential floods in Oman’s state of Mahdah following heavy rain in the area over the weekend, according to reports. The victims, which included a child, were buried in Al Ain on Sunday (August 13). They were identified as Mohammed Abdullah Al Kaabi, Salem Mohammed Al Kaabi and Khalifa Abdullah Al Kaabi. Funeral prayers were held in Martyr Abdul Aziz Al Kaabi Mosque in Al Foah after Al Asr prayer. A large crowd attended their burial in Al Foah Cemetery. According to reports, their vehicle was swept by floods in the Wadi Al Qahfi. Witnesses who also helped rescue the victims said the three people drowned before they could be rescued. Four other people in another stranded vehicle were rescued. Oman police forces combed valleys and streams to locate and retrieve the bodies. One was found in Wadi Al Qahfi, while two others were found Al Batinah. Meanwhile, Sheikh Salem Bin Ali Al Kaabi, Member of Consultative Council of Oman and Representative of the State of Mahdah, offered his condolences to the families of the deceased. ICA/Expat Media
