Sheikh Mohammed attends 'extraordinary marriage'
DUBAI - The first of its kind wedding happened in Dubai on Saturday, with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai calling it an "extraordinary marriage". The marriage between two members of Sheikh Mohammed's team happened at a booth in Emirates Towers, with a roaming robot facilitating the quick ceremony. The robot displayed live footage of a lawyer from Dubai Courts administering wedding rites to the groom, Omar Sultan Al Olama, and his bride, Amal bin Shabib as Sheikh Mohammed and other witnesses looked on. After reciting their wedding vows, Al Olama then signed the marriage contract and received the notarised marriage licence from the roaming robot. With everything signed and sealed, Al Olama and bin Shabib were the first to be married at the centre under the Mabrook Ma Dabrat service. The service allows the public to complete marriage contracts according to the Islamic Sharia and legal procedures.
