Expat wins Dh1 million jackpot after 10 years

  DUBAI - After 10 years of buying raffle tickets, a 50-year-old Indian expatriate finally hit the Dh1 million jackpot of the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw. Santosh Vijayan's ticket was declared the winning ticket in the draw on Tuesday (October 31) at the Dubai International Airport. Vijayan has been living in the UAE for 27 years has reportedly been buying an average of three tickets per year for each time he travels. The tickets cost Dh1,000 each. It appears that the Abu Dhabi-based company operations manager has spent approximately Dh40,000 for all the tickets he has bought over the years. It's worth it, he said. Japanese national Yasunobu Yamada, 47, also won Dh1 million in the same draw. He was on his second visit to Dubai before headed back to Germany when he bought a Dubai Duty Free ticket.  DAJ/Expat Media
