4-way pedestrian bridge opens in busy Dubai junction
DUBAI – A four-way pedestrian bridge has opened to the public in one of Dubai’s busiest junctions. The unique crossing in Dubai Marina can accommodate up to 8,000 people, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). It will allow pedestrians to safely cross King Salman Street and Al Gharbi Street. The bridge also has bicycle racks and cycling lanes.
“We are targeting a zero-fatality rate to rank Dubai among the world’s safest cities in traffic safety by 2021," said Mattar Al Tayer, director general of RTA.
“The bridge enables pedestrians to move freely between the four sides of the junction, while avoiding any stop at light signals,” Al Tayer said. ICA/Expat Media
