The bicycles seized in Naif, Dubai. DUBAI POLICE
More than 400 bicycles were recently seized in Dubai’s Naif district after riders were found violating traffic rules, according to Naif Police Station. Brigadier Tarik Tahlak, director of Naif Police Station, said the bicycles were confiscated after their owners parked them on sidewalks or against traffic information boards. E-scooters that were parked on streets and markets were also seized, Brigadier Tahlak said. Violators were fined for breaking traffic rules, he added. It is illegal to park bicycles on sidewalks, main streets, signboards, street posts and other non-designated parking areas. Police said this can cause traffic accidents. Dubai Police’s traffic safety campaign continues across the emirate, with random inspections underway.
