493 emergencies reported in Dubai over New Year’s Eve

DUBAI – Paramedics in Dubai responded to 493 emergencies over New Year’s Eve, a Dubai Ambulance official said. The emergencies involved 542 people who were sick or injured from 2pm on December 31 until 6am on January 1. Majority of the reports were for mild or moderate cases, with only 25 reported severely injured, said Khalifa bin Dary, executive director of Dubai Ambulance Services Corporation. Authorities set up 122 ambulance stations, 78 emergency stations and 200 ambulances, and also dispatched 700 paramedics at various sites across Dubai for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
