5-day issuance for Indian passports in the UAE as Indian missions in UAE cuts down passport renewals time
ABU DHABI – Indian expatriates will no longer have to wait for 40 days to renew their passports. The processing time is now down to five days.
Indian Ambassador to the UAE, T.P. Seetharam said that diplomatic missions in the UAE have been able to speed up passport renewals within five days since the beginning of June, adding that consular staff had been working extra hours to clear pending applications by the end of May.
Seetharam said quicker service applies to passports issued by all other Indian passport authorities in India and abroad, including the Indian Consulate in Dubai.
The ambassador said that Indian residents in the UAE capital can report any passport renewal delay to the embassy through cons@indembassyuae.org or cons1@indembassyuae.org.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai issues 16,000 to 18,000 new passports every month.
