Continuous rains lash UAE causing traffic jams in Dubai, Sharjah

  DUBAI – Heavy and continuous rains on Sunday night stalled traffic on major Dubai and Sharjah roads and caused several accidents where five people were hurt. Weather forecasters said unstable weather would still prevail in the country in the next few days. Brig. Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the traffic department at Dubai Police, mentioned that among the accidents was one that occurred at Al Garhoud bridge late yesterday afternoon where one motorist was seriously hurt while four others sustained minor injuries. Al Mazroui said the mishap caused a traffic jam from the World Trade Center to the bridge. Since the rains happened late afternoon yesterday and well into the night, workers going home were stranded in traffic, which was was noticeably heavier than usual on roads connecting Sharjah and Dubai.
